New Year´s Concert 2018

Two important anniversaries were commemorated by Májovák at its New Year concert. The town of Karviná celebrates 750 years since its foundation and the orchestra 110 years of its existence. That means the concert was stand out, also thanks to the soloists: Liana Sass is a soprano and has performed on the stages of the most important opera houses all around Europe. She has performed with the Czech Philharmonic, at Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Manoel Theatre in Malta, Tel Aviv, Brussels, Amsterdam, Moscow and Novosibirsk. She has sung the parts of Leonora in Il Trovatore, the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, Mimi in La Bohème, Rosalinda in The Bat, Helena in Polish Blood and many others. She was joined by Adam Grygar, member of the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre Opera. Currently he can be seen in The Barber of Sevilla or Romeo and Juliet. He also sings as a soloist and works with a number of orchestras. Daniela Grygarová, violinist of the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre Operetta, performed as well. She has given concerts both home and abroad, has recorded for the Czech Television, Beskydy Television and TV Polar. She has played as soloist with the Pilsen Philharmonic, Czech Chamber Philharmonic, Virtuosi Pragenses, Vítkovice Chamber Orchestra and Moravian-Silesian Sinfonietta. The orchestra was conducted by Mr. Ondřej Packan and performed symphonic wind music (S. Hazo, T. Doss), Czech classical music (A. Dvořák) and world authors' music (L. Bernstein, J. Williams, G. Verdi, F. Lehár, E. Kálmán).  The concert was sponsored by the town of Karviná, Landek and Residomo.
