Májovák opening its 110th season

Our orchestra is entering its 110th concert season. The celebrations will be held in 2018, which is also a crucial year for Karviná, celebrating its 750th anniversary. Both these anniversaries will be commemorated by a number of concerts. The first one was held on Saturday 9th September, on the industrial premises of the Barbora mine. The orchestra was conducted by Ondřej Packan, its chief conductor, Rolex Replica Watches and the band played pieces by both Czech and foreign composers. Listeners were invited to enjoy James L. Hosay's Persis Overture or Philip Sparke's Klezmer Karnival. From Czech music, the orchestra was going to play Dvořák's Slavonic Dance no. 8 or his Devil's Dance. Instrumental solos were performed by Jan Soukup (Fučík's bassoon concertino), Jan Nepodal (Weignein's vibraphone solo A Tribute to Lionel) and Daniela Grygarová (Schindler's List, violin). The premises are closely associated with traditional miners' music, so a medley was performed by the Permoník Male Choir under the leadership of Dominika Škrabalová. The event was sponsored by the city of Karviná and the OKD corporation. Photo gallery from concert you can find here
