International achievements of conductor Filip Urban
Filip Urban, the chief conductor of our orchestra, has recently won several great successes.
In January this year he participated in the final round of the "Felix Mendelssohn International Conducting Competition". This prestigious competition has several preliminary rounds (Prague, Seoul and New York) and out of several hundred participants only 36 performers advanced to the finals held in Karlovy Vary. Our conductor succeeded here as well and advanced to the final culmination of the competition among the last 4 participants! As an award he won a place at the conducting masterclass in Denmark under the guidance of Jorma Panula in September this year.
On 31 January, the city council of Ostrava decided that he will receive the Talent of the Year Award for 2024! We congratulate Filip on all his achievements and we look forward to working with him at the Ostrava radio concert in the near future.
